CRUX | by David Robinson, 1993
This powerful work of art by Canadian Sculptor David Robinson was originally intended for Regent College. It came up for sale however, and was bought by Walter and Laura Ruloff who offered it to Cates Hill Chapel as a gift. The congregation accepted the piece in 2000, upon completion of the church building.
David Robinson had a specific aim in mind for this work. He had long wanted to create a sculpture that embodied the cross and the resurrection in one piece. The broken cross (not visible below in this photograph) and the halo which lifts the figure, are intended to demonstrate this.
